Jan Robert Leegte is among the first Dutch artists who were involved in the 90s art for and by the internet. Today Leegte creates art as well in the form of websites as the translations of those to offline media, such as prints, sculptures and projections. A recurring theme in his work is the sculptural materiality of interfaces and computer programs. Like the early graphic design of cursors, selection boxes and menu bars that were meant to give the user the impression of physically pressing the buttons.
