Derrick Adams is a New Yorker artist, performance artist and curator. In Adam’s collages, performances and videos black characters play the main roles in pop culture, those drawn from 1980s and ’90s American television shows like In Living Color. Screenshots from those shows have formed the basis of Adams’s cartoonish, mixed-media collages. He pieced together from patterned fabrics and bold colours, and framed by the outline of a vintage TV. For Derrick Adams it’s the same as using a baroque frame.
